1. My dear friend Syreeta Gates recently published a book called Just BeCause, A HA moments to inspire the next generation of change makers. She asked me to write the preface to set the tone of the book. and share my journey with gratitude. I also had the pleasure to name the book and support her with the creative process. It was a learning experience for both of us and we are very excited to share it with the world.

Syreeta invited me to join her on a taping of ABC’s show Here & Now w/ Sandra Goodman. We talked about social entrepreneurship, the connection economy, & gratitude!

You can see Syreeta Gates, Akua Soadwa of the Gye Nyame Empowerment Project, and me on ABC’s Sunday afternoon show HERE & NOW today!!! (April 14th, 2012)

It is an honor to be apart of a friend’s dream. #gratuityincluded

  2. Candid Convo | The Art of Gratitude and Self-Love

On Thursday, March 28, 2013 at The New York Institute of Technology I lead a conversation with Akua Soadwa of The Gye Nyame Empowerment Project on The Art of Gratitude & Self Love.

It was fantastic and interactive!!! We discussed the importance of gratitude and self-love and how you can easily incorporate both into your life. The conversation provided an opportunity to have hands-on experience with practicing gratitude and self-love. People were left touched, moved, and inspired!!

    What is Candid Conversations?

The Gye Nyame Empowerment Project (GNEP) has partnered with ROOTS to provide monthly conversations on topics that impact people of African, Caribbean and Latino descent. The intention of these conversations is to affirm the richness of our culture and to disrupt conversations that impact our ability to fully realize our potential and purpose on this planet at this time in history.

    Thank you!

  5. As apart of the Love & Gratitude Challenge, I asked each woman what they were most grateful for in this very moment….

Cultivating gratitude is best done inside of community.

  6. Day 1: Thursday, March 8, 2012

    Greet each day with gratitude.

Write a note of appreciation to yourself that will charge you every morning. Place this note right by your mirror so every time you see your reflection you can thank yourself for showing up.

*Be creative. Be kind. Be loving. Acknowledge everything about you. Give yourself props!

This is my note of self-appreciation I made for myself this morning. My favorite tools involved: scissors, magazine clippings, glue, and a sharpie! This is my evidence to the world that I am committed to cultivating an attitude of gratitude. #siwelives

Participate with us by taking these daily action steps.

  7. Love & Gratitude was created in honor of our SiweZippie” Monsanto (1996-2011). To celebrate her life, the challenge begins on her B’earthday, March 8th (International Working Women’s Day) and will end on March 28th, her mother Dionne Monsanto’s B’earthday (sacred reciprocity). #SiweLives

Check out a Thank You Tribute to her HERE.

    Aim

Participants develop and learn to cultivate an attitude of gratitude.

    Intention

Love & Gratitude charges participants with creating rich, full, and abundant lives through the practice of gratitude.  They say it takes 21 days to develop a habit; in the 21 days of this challenge, participants will express love and gratitude daily for self, offer frequent acknowledgments to others, and source gratitude in the world.

    Mantra

Love & Gratitude are the highest vibration.

They move me toward complete happiness.

May all that I do & all that I am be on that frequency.

  10. Ahhhh! Water. Refreshing. It quenches our thirst, cleanses our bodies, can sometimes be referred to as paradise, maybe considered holy, and seems to make things grow.

One of my favorite publications, Colors Magazine, released a Water Issue back in May 1999. Colors Magazine Issue 31: Water gave a unique in-deth perspective on the many facets of water. Water, one of our most valuable resources is the most essential for life. Colors reveals the almighty and destructive reflections of this precious liquid and intimately shares how it shifts to serve humanity; whether for religious, violent, vanity, or environmental purposes.

Thank you water for all your bodies that flow generously to us so that we may heal, restore, clean, and enjoy the pleasures of your ways.

Like Bruce Lee said, “Be water, my friend.”
